About

My name is Adrian Diaconescu and I’m a freelance designer based in Bucharest, Romania. I specialize in custom Wordpress theme design, but I also design and implement small business websites or product websites.

When I’m not chasing pixels around, I often spend my time playing video games (I know, I’m just a big kid) or watching TV shows. Two of my other passions are travel and cooking. I’m no Jamie Oliver, but I like to try out new things. You can also check my travel blog and my cooking blog, that I will be launching soon.

This is my freelancer website, as well as my freeIancer blog. I write about web design, freelancing, blogging, Wordpress and about pretty much everything related to making money online, from the comfort of my home office.

Previous Jobs

In a “previous life” I used to work as Flash Designer for Softwin, then I left and started a company called Spidernet with a couple of friends. When I made the switch to freelancing full time, I was working as Creative Designer for ORSYP.

Connecting The Dots

We all have mentors, people who’s actions inspire us, guide us. The person who inspired me the most over the last couple of years is Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple. Not necessarily for his achievements, but for his attitude, his vision and most of all his journey.

One of the best Steve Jobs moments is the 2005 Stanford Commencement Address. Here’s my favorite quote:

Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

Looking back at some of the choices I made over the last couple of years, I can clearly see the line that connects the dots. How did I know those choices will turn out to be the good ones? I didn’t. Just like Steve Jobs, I also trust in something. Maybe not destiny, but it’s a gut feeling that tells me what I do is the right thing.

I honestly believe that as long as you don’t make to many compromises in life and as long as you follow your dream and do what you like, on the long run you can’t lose.
